Thunar, SMR, Contabo, Windows, KeepassXC, DNS, Firefox
It seems that Thunar ( Xubuntu default file manager ) just can't get the .Trash folder to work with btrfs volumes using subvol mount option. That's quite a weak achievement. If snapshots are being used, then the trash feature won't work anymore, due to the limitations linked to the subvolumes. Yet I personally find this to be incredibly lame and totally pointless and completely unbased limitation. Linux silliness.
AFAIK .Trash is broken with every subvolume, even if the .Trash-UID would exist on the mount point. But if there’s something I should do, please let me know. It works on every mount point which is NOT using subvol mount parameter. I did try basically everything I could find, and didn’t get it to work. If it does using some clever trick, at least it isn’t widely known.
$ echo "I mean this" > sample.txt
$ gio trash ./sample.txt
gio: file:///mnt/data/@subvol/sample.txt: Trashing on system internal mounts is not supported
$ gio version
2.80.0I found this issue: Thunar does not move deleted files to Trash on BTRFS volume with x-gvfs-trash option (@ gitlab.xfce.org) was closed about one month ago before I started to wonder the problem.
It's the same problem, but without mentioning the subvolume detail. On some level that's slightly different, because with my system, it works fine, as long as it's not a subvolume. Also it didn't mention why it's not working, if it's triggered by the same error with the mount or something different. It's interesting that they'll mention workaround, it might be that if every mount command for the file system is using subvol option it seems that it might work. ( I didn't try). My primary mountpoint missed that subvolume mention, because I just said it was file systems root, maybe that could have "fixed" it as well.

Well, it might get fixed some day, or not. We'll see. But the problem I had, is now solved on some level, even the root cause remains. kw: Xfce trash Thunar gvfs linux btrfs subvolume mount. - Update on the posting day, I think it now works, because I don't remember hitting this issue lately. Interestingly the gio version is the same as in my notes. So I'm not sure about that after all.
Thunar / Btrfs FAQ (@ docs.xfce.org) has been updated.New Seagate Exos models, 30 TB (CMR) and 32 TB (SMR) - Whoa. That's not a big capacity difference. If the price is same, the SMR drawbacks probably are way worse than the benefits provided by the extra capacity.
Contabo's new control panel required password reset. Done. Yet the main login page still uses the old credentials. It's important to use the new credentials for the new control panel, and it's also hard to find. The Windows 2025 issue got finally solved, there are multiple steps related to the problem. To sum it up, the case was as bad as was because of: bad communication, eagerness to close the ticket, without investigating the matter. As well as it was my fault that I was not exactly aware how the new control panel works. Also the WIndows base image has now different settings, which lead logins to fail as those used earlier to work. And then you'll need to configure the system using console. Latency with the re-installations and lack of the reinstall for 2025 in old control panel, yadda yadda. Multiple layered small issues and slow response times, and it took three weeks to get the Windows Server 2025 Data Center edition into acceptable state to be used. - And this excludes all of the "normal configuration" work, which is being done after it.
Windows Server 2025 Data Center configuration - I spent a good while figuring this out: Remove-WindowsCapability -Online -Name AzureArcSetup~~~~ -NoRestart it seems that the ~~~~ are mandatory and very essential part of it. Unfortunately many instructions seem to omit that.
It seems that KeepassXC got issue with Additional Attribute management, screen / status isn't updated correctly as well as remove function is more or less broken. - Business as usual. Crazy and annoying bugs newer go out of fashion.
Resolved - Another normal day, resolved just dies and DNS resolution stops working with Ubuntu. Restarting the resolved service fixes the situation. - Oh, but why?!?
Firefox Mobile Android - Buggy as bleep, it constantly shows in the notifications reminder about to closing the private tabs, even if I select to close the private tabs and or I don't have any open private tabs. - Quality code as always.
